Weihnachtmarkt!

Member States Trip: Southeast

I’ve just returned from my final trip to Southeastern Europe! It was a nine
day adventure starting in Budapest, Hungary, then to Athens, Greeece, and culminating in Bucharest, Romania!

Spätzle: A German cooking lesson

A large part of any culture is FOOD! When one thinks of German food beer, bratwurst, and bretzels usually come to mind. (Cough Oktoberfest) luckily there is more than to eat here in Germany. There is flammkuchen, a traditional flatbread pizza typical of the Alsace region, schnitzel, a breaded meat cutlet and an assortment of delicious baked goods!! Oh and potatoes! Potatoes with anything and everything! 

Em takes Freiburg

Emily came to visit this weekend and we such a blast together! It was so nice to see that our friends and family from back home were just as excited to see us together as we were to be together! The Lufthansa worker’s strike almost caused her not to come but it all worked out in the end! (just like Dad said to me as I was in full panic on Monday night)

Today I woke up excited! My friend Layne invited me to volunteer at a refugee camp in Freiburg. Community Service has always been a huge part of my life and of my academic experience, so I was grateful for the opportunity to continue this in Freiburg.
